Expanding into a new market is rarely as simple as announcing a new store opening on Instagram. For Fashion, Lifestyle and Beauty (FLB) brands today, business expansion strategies are far more deliberate and layered.
Behind every successful market entry is a series of moving pieces. Partnerships, influencer advocacy, cultural collaborations and product innovation all play a role in how brands can build that traction when strengthening awareness and local relevance in new countries.
To truly understand how these moving pieces translate into real impact—and whether your marketing and PR strategy is resonating locally—accurate brand performance measurement is critical. Putting all coverage on a level playing field, Launchmetrics has created its proprietary Media Impact Value® (MIV®) metric, which quantifies brand visibility across online, social and print media channels, regions and Voices (Celebrities, Traditional Media, Influencers, Partners and Owned Media).
Using examples highlighted in the Market Expansion Strategy 2026 report, this article explores three business expansion strategies that leading brands are using today to scale their presence when entering new markets.
Creator-Led Ecosystems as a Business Expansion Strategy
As social media continues to be an instantaneous channel, creator partnerships have become a powerful business expansion strategy for brands entering new markets. Rather than relying solely on traditional Media channels which can be costly, brands can increasingly build traction through Influencer ecosystems that naturally introduce them to new communities.
Partnering with creators who already have credibility with local audiences means brands can quickly build visibility, trust and cultural relevance. These collaborations help brands to reach new targeted consumers through each creator’s base, accelerating awareness to the right audiences in unfamiliar markets.
Gymshark x U.S. Creator Ecosystem

For lifestyle SMBs overall, Influencers accounted for roughly 50% of total MIV in 2025. For Gymshark, that share climbed to 75%, highlighting how central creator partnerships were to its U.S. expansion strategy.
Gymshark generated $402M MIV globally in 2025, with the U.S. emerging as its most impactful market at $161M MIV, compared to $95M in the UK. This meant the brand generated 70% more MIV in the U.S. than in its home market. Much of this momentum came from creator partnerships at scale, with All-Star Influencers accounting for over half of Gymshark’s total impact. Stan Browney’s long-term partnership illustrates this. Although based in the Netherlands, his fitness-driven content resonates strongly with U.S. audiences and generated $43M MIV for the brand.
Key Takeaway: Gymshark’s success shows how creator ecosystems can support international expansion. By pairing All-Star scale with creators whose content travels seamlessly across borders, brands can build traction and drive brand performance in new territories.
Narrative Localization as a Business Expansion Strategy
For brands entering new markets, expansion is rarely just about increasing visibility. It is about translating the brand narrative into a new cultural context. That translation often depends on how different Voices carry and shape the story. Media can establish cultural credibility, Influencers introduce the brand within local communities and Owned channels allow brands to anchor the narrative in their own voice.
Together, these Voices create a kind of visibility architecture, where some Voices introduce the brand, others validate it and others amplify the conversation. Because these dynamics shift from region to region, successful expansion often depends on adapting how a brand’s narrative travels across markets rather than simply repeating the same playbook globally.
Madhappy x Japan

Madhappy’s expansion into Japan demonstrates how a layered Voice mix can translate a brand identity across markets. In 2025, Japan emerged as Madhappy’s second most impactful market globally, generating $3.5M MIV, highlighting how strongly the brand’s narrative resonated locally. Fashion Media Voices helped give credibility to the brand, with outlets such as Fashion Press and WWD Japan positioning Madhappy within Japan’s fashion conversation.
From there, Influencers amplified the story by bringing the brand into everyday cultural contexts through lifestyle content. Local creators including Com Yamato ($181K MIV) and Alexander Taro ($174K) ranked among the top five key Voices driving visibility in the market.
At the same time, Madhappy localized its narrative through its Owned channels. Its Japanese Instagram account @madhappyjp generated $237K MIV, sharing store openings, community moments and region-specific content to help the brand’s identity connect with local audiences.
Key Takeaway: When entering new markets, brands often need to adapt how their narrative travels across Voices. By aligning credibility, discovery and localized Owned storytelling, brands can translate their identity while building meaningful traction in new territories.
Retail Partnerships as a Business Expansion Strategy
Did you know that retail brands generated over $1.1B MIV for their partner brands in S1 2025? Our study shows that brands increasingly view retailers as more than an additional point of purchase. Instead, they have become strategic partners in driving brand visibility and accelerating market entry.
For brands looking to scale internationally, retail partnerships are a powerful business expansion strategy. By launching through established retail networks with strong consumer trust and media attention, your brand can tap into an existing audience while amplifying awareness and building market share in new territories.
Orebella x Ulta Beauty

Orebella entered the Middle East through a retail partnership with Ulta Beauty, which made its regional debut with stores operated by franchise partner Alshaya Group. By launching through an established beauty retail network, the fragrance brand was able to reach local consumers quickly.
In 2025, Orebella generated $60M in MIV globally, with the UAE ranking among its top three markets at $2M MIV. The region also saw a 152% YoY increase in MIV, reflecting the attention surrounding the retail launch. While Bella Hadid’s presence at the launch party drew significant attention, the strongest amplification came from regional Media and Influencer Voices, including ELLE Arabia at $265K MIV and Sarah Mohammed at $176K.
Key Takeaway: Retail partnerships can accelerate market entry by combining established distribution with local visibility. While a founder or celebrity can attract attention, Orebella’s launch shows that it is often regional Voices that help turn a retail debut into meaningful traction in a new market.
So How Do You Choose the Right Business Expansion Strategy for Your Market?
While these expansion strategies may look effortless from the outside, many brands wonder how they can apply them to their own region. The reality is that there is no single playbook. Retail partnerships, creator ecosystems and localized storytelling can all drive traction, but their effectiveness depends on the regional media environment, cultural context and audience dynamics.
This is where brand performance insights become essential. By analyzing how Voices, channels and placements perform in different regions, brands can understand how visibility spreads within a market. These insights reveal which strategies are most likely to accelerate growth, which may require greater investment and where opportunities to capture market share exist.
Rather than relying on intuition, brands can use these regional signals to build expansion strategies grounded in real performance data and tailored to each market.
